You can help further the work of the Bridging Neighborhoods Design Project (BNDP), on behalf of the entire community, in many ways.
Join a BNDP Committee.
Bring your experience, skills and special interests to the work of one of our sub-committees. For instance, if you have a background in engineering or architecture, you’ll enjoy becoming involved with the activities of the BNDP Engineering Committee. Spend as much or as little time as you can reasonably offer. It’ll be time well spent.
You may have experience in streetscape and design or financing. Or in fund raising. Or in land use planning. Or in traffic design. Consider bringing your interests and strengths to the Bridging Neighborhoods Design Project. You’ll find it rewarding. And your community will benefit.
Strengthen Your Community Connection.
Many neighborhoods have an organized association of local people who work together to improve their community. They may bring issues of concern to the attention of local
council members, and neighborhood organizations. Getting involved in your neighborhood association can be a great way to get to know your
neighbors and to improve the quality of life for you and your family.
Participate in events and programs organized by BNDP and your neighborhood association is a great way of connecting with people. Developing those relationships strengthens your community connections.
Educate Yourself.
In Rochester, the idea of an active, informed citizenry is embedded deep within the culture, and we're fortunate to live in a region with multiple opportunities to become involved in community design and planning issues. After all, from these issues come decisions, and these decisions affect everything from the community’s overall quality of life to its economic development right down to where you can live, work and play.
With so many changes headed our way, the time to get involved is now.
Educate yourself about how decisions are made and who makes them. Find out how you can become more directly involved on community boards and commissions. Support worthwhile community initiatives
like the Bridging Neighborhoods Design Project.
